Ang Nakakulong na Ibon

Sa pamamasyal ng Paniki sa bahay bahay tuwing gabi ay lagi itong napapalingon sa isang hawla. Nakakulong kasi roon ang isang ibong walang tigil sa matamis na pag-awit. Nang minsang natanawan ng Paniking sarado na ang mga bintana at tulog na ang nakatirang pamilya ay naglakas loob siyang lumapit at sumilip sa hawla.

"Napakatamis mong umawit," nakangiting pahayag ng Paniki. "Pero nagtataka ako kung bakit hindi raw naririnig ang boses mo sa araw kung kailan lalong marami ang mga ibong liparan nang liparan."

"Habang umaawit ako sa araw nang hulihin ako at ikulong dito. Isang aral iyan na aking natutuhan at hinding-hindi malilimutan."

"Sayang ka kaibigan. Huli na bago ka nag-ingat. Dapat na pinag-isipan mo noon pa ang maaaring mangyari sa iyo kung ang kalayaan ay ipagwawalang bahala mo."
